Pictured: Belfast rapist on the run in Republic of Ireland
This is the face of a convicted rapist on the run from police who once described himself as “a monster”.
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Edward Connors after he breached his probation conditions .
The 19-year-old was serving a sentence for a west Belfast rape and is believed to have fled to the Republic of Ireland.
Police have been appealing for the public’s help in tracking down the sex beast but only released a photo of Connors last night.
Connors was just 15 when he carried out a brutal double rape on a tourist, 26-year-old Winnie Li, at Colin Glen Forest in west Belfast in 2008.
Police were under pressure to release an image of the rapist to help catch the fugitive.
Yesterday, a PSNI spokesman said officers had been working to ensure “all lines had been exhausted” before deciding to release a photograph.
After attacking Ms Li, Connors fled to Dublin but returned voluntarily.
He was jailed for eight years with a further two years’ probation imposed.
The arrest warrant was issued after Connors failed to appear before Belfast Crown Court for breaching a probation condition.
