German tourists on holiday in Belfast have been left devastated after their 'pride and joy,' a custom built motorbike, was stolen and burnt out.

The bike was taken from Clifton Park Avenue in the north of the city during the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The BMW motorcycle and sidecar was stolen shortly before 1.45am by two men. It was found burnt out in the vicinity of Victoria Parade later in the morning.

Inspector David McBride said: “This motorcycle was owned by two German tourists who were visiting Belfast on holiday. This was a custom built motorcycle that was their pride and joy and as can be expected they have been left devastated by the incident.

“I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the theft or anyone with any information that can assist with the investigation to contact officers in Tennent Street on 101 quoting reference 93 05/06/18. Or, alternatively information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
