A video has emerged on social media showing a group of men and women brawling in broad daylight in the middle of Belfast city centre.

The footage shows people fighting on Castle Street as stunned onlookers watch on.

The fight, which begins on the pavement before spilling out into the middle of the street, has been viewed by thousands of people on social media.

Eventually the fighting comes to the end and the groups go their separate ways.

No arrests have been made.

Inspector Hughes said:  “We received the report of a fight at around 4.25pm. Police attended the scene and, on arrival, the disruption had ended. 

"While we have not received any formal complaints, our enquiries are ongoing.

“We are appealing to anyone with information to get in touch on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 923 of 14/05/19.”
