Pictured: Police swoop on Belfast home after women held at knifepoint in attempted robbery

A man has been arrested by police after two women were held at knifepoint in an attempted armed robbery in Belfast.

Two women, aged in their 30s, were threatened at knifepoint close to their house in the New Barnsley area at around 2am on Wednesday.

Armed officers were tasked to the scene and the suspect was located in a nearby property.

Constable McMullan said: “He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including attempted robbery, common assault and possessing a blade in a public place.

“He is currently in custody helping police with their enquiries.”
