Christian pilgrims came together in Londonderry yesterday to carry a cross through the city centre as part of an inter-faith event.
Other "Way of the Cross" rituals - a Good Friday tradition - took place across Ireland, the UK and beyond.
In Dublin, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and Archbishop Diarmuid Martin took part in a procession from the Wellington Monument to the Papal Cross in the Phoenix Park.
In Paris, the city's Catholic community performed the ritual around the fire-ravaged Notre Dame Cathedral.
And in Rome, Pope Francis highlighted the plight of the victims of human trafficking during the traditional Good Friday Way of the Cross ceremony at the Colosseum.
