The discovery of a pipebomb caused an alert on a Co Tyrone street.
The viable device was found on Mark Street in the Milltown area of Dungannon, sparking an evacuation of houses.
Police and Army Technical Officers took steps to make the device safe following the alert.
Residents in Mark Street have now been allowed back into their homes.
A PSNI said detectives are appealing for information.
"Police would like to thank local residents for their patience," she added.
Ulster Unionist MLA Tom Elliott called for calm in the area.
Mr Elliott said: "There is no place in society for people to be using such items as pipe bombs.
"It is vital that people desist from having or using these devices. It is also important that the public are alert and report anything suspicious to the police.
"I trust the people of Dungannon and the surrounding area will remain calm in these circumstances and look out for their neighbours."
