Plans for Derry interface revamp go on display
A multi-million pound masterplan to redevelop an interface area in Londonderry will go on public display tomorrow.
The Foyle Valley Gateway Masterplan was identified as a catalyst project in the One City Regeneration Plan, which will encompass Brandywell, Fountain and Bishop Street communities.
It will include new play areas, the redevelopment of the Brandywell Stadium and creation of new employment opportunities at the Iona Business Park.
The development of the Brandywell, home to Derry City FC, is expected to cost £12m.
A new stand with a capacity of 2,500 will be built on the Lone Moor Road side of the stadium, along with new changing rooms, offices and corporate facilities.
The plan also includes Derry City Council's ideas for reshaping the unpopular Lecky Road flyover and a transformation of the peace line. And it contains proposals for a new leisure facility in the Daisyfield area.
