Plea for witnesses after man in his 60s is killed in Bangor crash

By Allan Preston

A man in his 60s has died following a two car crash on the Cotton Road, just outside Bangor.

Police said the man was behind the wheel of a red Renault Clio yesterday at around 11am when it was in collision with a white Volkswagen Passat close to the junction at Six Road Ends.

The road was closed until almost 7pm yesterday while the scene was examined.

It was the eighth death on Northern Ireland's roads this year.

Ten people died in the same period last year.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
