Poetry project is child's play
The first Children's Writing Fellow in Northern Ireland has launched a new creative writing project for primary school children entitled Head over Heels.
Myra Zepf, who is based at Queen's University's Seamus Heaney Centre for Poetry, is inviting P6 classes to take part in creative brainstorming workshops with her, after which each child will have the opportunity to write a short story.
Five young writers and their classes will then be selected to take part in a special event at the Seamus Heaney HomePlace in Bellaghy next spring, when top illustrators will bring the children's stories to life.
Speaking about the Arts Council of Northern Ireland-supported project, Myra said: "The final event will be a creative extravaganza."
