Police appeal as man in 'critical condition' after north Belfast hit and run

A man is in a "critical but stable" condition in hospital after being struck by a car in a hit and run in north Belfast.

On Tuesday evening shortly before 10pm the man in his 30s was struck and seriously injured by a Green Ford Focus on the New Lodge road.

Police have said information suggests that the car had been seen driving dangerously in the area in the time leading up to the collision.

The car was abandoned a short distance away from the scene at Donore Court.

The man is said to be in a "critical but stable" condition.

The road was closed overnight following the incident but has since reopened.

Detective Inspector Fitzpatrick said: "Police enquiries are continuing to identify the driver of the car involved in this incident and detectives are following a number of lines of enquiry.

"I would, however, appeal to anyone with any information to assist us with our enquiries to contact CID at Musgrave on 101. Information can also be passed anonymously through the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
