Police appeal following Downpatrick assault

Police in Downpatrick are appealing for witnesses following an assault on four youths in Downpatrick.

At around 7.30pm on Friday, three males and one female were assaulted at the roundabout on Belfast Road by two men in their late teens and a woman aged 17 or 18.

The victims' injuries required hospital treatment but are not believed to be life threatening.

The assailants made off on foot towards the Maxol Filling Station.

Police are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a dark green Landrover, which was in the area at the time, as they may have information which could assist police in their investigation.

Anyone who witnessed this incident or has any information is asked to contact Downpatrick Police Station on 0845 600 8000. Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
