Police appeal for witnesses who saw pensioner Jim Maxwell before west Belfast crash

Police investigating a crash which killed a pensioner in west Belfast are making a specific appeal for witnesses.

Jim Maxwell (71) was struck by a car on the Donegall Road on December 23 at around 7.30pm.

The officer leading the investigation, Inspector Paul Noble, would like to hear from anyone who saw Mr Maxwell walking in the area prior to the collision.

"I am appealing to anyone who saw this male walking from the top of the Donegall Road at any time from around 7pm onwards to get in touch with us.

"The number to call is 101."

Tributes were paid to Mr Maxwell where he was remembered as an "absolute gentleman".
