Police arrest 53-year-old woman as part of Rolex watch investigation

Police have arrested a 53-year-old woman as part of a major investigation into organised crime involving the purchase of Rolex watches.

Detectives from the PSNI's Organised Crime Unit arrested the woman in the Armagh area on Wednesday on suspicion of conspiracy to supply class A and B controlled drugs.

She was also arrested on suspicion of money laundering offences, which included the purchase of the high-value watches.

Police later confirmed the woman has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

So far eighteen people have been arrested as part of this investigation, with one person sentenced and seven others having plead guilty and awaiting sentencing.

In June Detectives from the Reactive and Organised Crime Branch carried out 20 searches across Northern Ireland in Londonderry, Strabane, Belfast, Glenavy, Aughgnacloy and Dungannon.

Five men were arrested as part of the operation, with approximately £200,000 worth of high value luxury items being seized.
