Police in north Belfast have arrested a 14-year-old boy on suspicion of injuring a nine-year-old boy with a Taser-type device.
The boy was detained on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm to the child, who sustained an arm injury in the incident.
Inspector Roy Watton said: "We received a report of an incident in which a nine year old boy sustained an injury to his arm and a police investigation commenced.
"This is a very serious incident and I would remind both children and parents that a taser is not a toy and it can cause a lot of pain when used on someone.
"I would appeal to anyone who may have been in the area at the time and witnessed this incident to contact Police at Musgrave on the non-emergency number 101 or alternatively anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
The boy has been released pending further investigations.
