Police arrest two youths over murder in which man was beaten with guitar

Police investigating the murder of Matthew Goddard in east Belfast arrested a 17-year-old male and a 12-year-old boy on Sunday.

The arrests follow police searches in the east Belfast area in connection with the killing.

It's believed Mr Goddard was beaten with an electric guitar in what police described as a ''sustained and brutal'' attack.

The 41-year-old was last seen alive at around 6pm on December 23.

He was found dead at a house on Chobham Street in east Belfast on Wednesday evening.

Both youths have been taken to Musgrave Custody Suite where they are helping police with their enquiries.

A number of searches in relation to the investigation are ongoing in the east Belfast area.

A 21-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman who were arrested on Saturday remain in custody at this time.
