Police attacked with petrol bombs in west Belfast
Two people have been arrested after police were attacked with petrol bombs in west Belfast.
The incident happened at Colin Glen Forest Park on Saturday when police were asked to assist council staff in removing bonfire material that had been gathered at a site on the edge of the park.
In a statement on Sunday, PSNI west Belfast said: "During this operation there was some sporadic disorder with stone throwing and a couple of petrol bombs thrown at police.
"Police dealt with this swiftly and two people were arrested for riotous behaviour and unlawful assembly.
"Colinglen Forest Park is a brilliant space and enjoyed by the local community and families. This behaviour cannot be allowed to take place anywhere let alone in a public space such as this. We will act and take action when people behave like this."
PSNI Sergeant McKinley said: "This behaviour is destructive to the local community and will not be tolerated."
