Police charge Newry man with possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply

The PSNI have charged a Newry man with posession of class A drugs with intent to supply.

Detectives charged the 25-year-old male with possession of a class A controlled drug, possession of a class A controlled drug with intent to supply and possessing fireworks without a licence.

The charges are in connection with a search of a house in O’Donoghue Park area of Bessbrook on Wednesday morning by detectives from Criminal Investigations Branch organised crime unit.

Approximately £1500 of suspected cocaine and a number of fireworks were seized during the search.

Detective Inspector Millar said: “We are committed to tackling the issue of drugs and would appeal to the public to speak to us if they have any concerns or information regarding drugs in their area. The number to call is 101. Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”

The man is expected to appear before Newry Magistrates Court on Wednesday 23 May.
