Police dogs help sniff out suspected burglars after car taken from Lisburn home

By Jonathan Bell

Four people have been arrested in Northern Ireland after a police operation to track down suspected burglars.

At around 9pm on Sunday police were called to a creeper-style burglary in Laurel Hill Road.

A black Volkeswagen Golf was taken after a house was broken into and its keys taken. Police immediately circulated a description of the car to all patrols in the area and the police helicopter.

A short time later the Golf was located at Ballycolin Road with the engine off and nobody about. Nearby a Ford Mondeo was stopped by police and, with the help of the helicopter and a police dog, the four people were arrested.

The three men aged 27, 29 and 31, and a woman aged 23 were arrested on suspicion of burglary and are currently in police custody assisting officers with their enquiries.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact officers.
