Police get extra time to quiz man arrested over murder of woman

Police have been granted extra time to question a 36-year-old man about the murder of a woman in Co Armagh.

The body of Laura Marshall, 31, was found in a flat at Victoria Street in Lurgan on Sunday.

A murder investigation was launched after the results of a post mortem examination were received.

A court has granted detectives an additional 36 hours to hold the suspect who was arrested on Sunday.

Detective Chief Inspector Eamonn Corrigan from the PSNI's serious crime branch said: "Police have been allowed an extra 36 hours to question the suspect.

"I am continuing appeal to anyone who may have seen or had any contact with Laura over the weekend to contact detectives at Mahon Road on 101 or alternatively information can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

"I also want to hear from anyone who saw or heard any activity at Laura's home in Victoria Street over the weekend until Sunday evening at 5.30pm."
