Police get more time to quiz Omagh bomb suspect

Detectives investigating the Omagh bombing have been granted more time to question a republican arrested in connection with the Real IRA outrage.

Seamus Daly, who was detained in the Newry area on Monday, has previously been found liable for the bombing in a landmark civil case.

Twenty-nine people, including a woman pregnant with twins, died in the August 1998 attack in the Co Tyrone town.

Five years ago Daly (43), a bricklayer from Cullaville, Co Monaghan in the Irish Republic, was one of four men found responsible for the bomb at Belfast High Court after being sued by some of the victims' families.
