Police given extra time to question man over Lu Na McKinney murder
Police have been given more time to question a man arrested on suspicion of the murder of a mother on a boating holiday in Northern Ireland.
Lu Na McKinney, aged 35 and from Co Donegal in the Irish Republic, was in a hired cruiser in Co Fermanagh with her husband and their two young children when the incident happened early in the morning last April.
After a review of the circumstances police arrested a 41-year-old on suspicion of murder on Thursday.
After a court hearing on Friday night, police were granted a further 36 hours to question the suspect.
The boat was moored at Devenish Island, a popular visitor attraction near Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh.
Emergency services found her body but intensive attempts to resuscitate her failed.
The PSNI is working with the Garda in the Republic to investigate the death. They have appealed for anyone with information to contact their officers.
