Police granted extra time to question man arrested under Terrorism Act

Police have been granted additional time to question a 29-year-old man arrested in Lurgan.

It relates to arrests made after the search of a vehicle on the Levin Road on Wednesday and follow-up searches in the Lurgan area on Thursday.

A 41-year-old man arrested by detectives from the PSNI's Terrorism Investigation Unit on Thursday has been released unconditionally.

A 48-year-old man arrested on Wednesday has been released pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service (PPS).

As the 29-year-old man was arrested under the Terrorism Act he must be charged, released pending report to the PPS, or released unconditionally.

Under the Terrorism Act is not permitted to release a suspect on bail.
