Police granted more time to question Lurgan murder suspect

Detectives have been given more time to question the man they arrested after the body of a 45-year-old man was discovered in a Lurgan apartment block on Sunday afternoon.

Police were called to the scene on Victoria Street, where officers discovered the victim, who is believed to have been Lithuanian.

Another 45-year-old man, also believed to be a Lithuanian national, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.

He is understood to be the victim’s twin brother.

Dolores Kelly, SDLP MLA for the area, told the BBC: “It’s absolutely horrific news.

“What’s making it even more horrific is that the person arrested on suspicion of murder is actually the twin brother of the deceased and my heart goes out to their family.”
