Police hit out at 'shameful' burglary at Craigavon football club

Police in Craigavon have hit out at the "shameful" actions of burglars who targeted the grounds of a local football club, stealing and damaging more than £1,000 worth of equipment.

Pictures from AFC Craigavon show broken windows, football kits strewn outside the changing rooms and damage to the stands.

Police said the burglars struck overnight on Monday.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "To those responsible for this: you've attacked your own community. You've attacked your own club. The very place set up to support and unite a community, victim of thuggish, selfish louts."

In a post on social media, AFC Craigavon wrote: "Absolutely disgusted in what has happened at club, with these young vandals running about doing damage like this, it’s uncalled for."
