Detectives investigating the serious sexual assault on a teenage girl in the Laurel Glen area of Dunmurry last Saturday night have issued a description of a man they believe carried out the attack.

Police are trying to identify a man described as being aged approximately 25 to 30 years old, 6ft tall, of medium build with a local accent.

The man, who is described as having fair hair, stubble and bushy eyebrows, was wearing a dark coloured coat and dark denim jeans.

He is believed to have assaulted his victim in a forested area adjacent to the Stewartstown Road at around half past eight on Saturday evening.

Police are asking anyone with information about the man, or who may have seen a young female walking in the area either alone or in company with him, to contact detectives at the Rape Crime Unit at Ladas Drive on 0845 600 8000.

Information can also be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
