By Claire Cromie

Police are hunting a man who ran off following a car chase in west Belfast.

Officers drove in pursuit of a grey Citroen C5 on Tuesday evening after it was reported as stolen from a filling station on Stewartstown Road.

During the chase, on the Glen Road at about 6.15pm, the stolen car reversed into the police vehicle at speed, injuring two officers.

A stinger device was used to stop the vehicle, which was then abandoned in Suffolk Court.

The driver of the car was detained at the scene and a passenger arrested a short time later. The men, both aged 23, are currently in custody helping police with their enquiries.

It is believed one further passenger made off from the scene and enquiries are ongoing to trace the individual.

The injured officers did not require hospital treatment.

Witnesses are asked to call 0845 600 8000.
