Police are hunting a rapist who attacked a young woman outside Belfast's CastleCourt Shopping Centre.

The 21-year-old woman was walking along an alleyway just off Royal Avenue during the early hours of Saturday morning when she was approached from behind.

The unknown male sexually assaulted her sometime around midnight.

He is described as  black, aged in  his mid-30s, approximately 5'6" tall, of thin build and wearing navy coloured jeans and a checked shirt.

Detectives are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or was in Royal Avenue at the time of the assault and saw a woman walking in the area to contact them. Call the Rape Crime Unit in Ladas Drive on the non-emergency number 101.
