Police identify man found collapsed next to bike in Toome

Police have confirmed they have identified a man who was found collapsed next to a bicycle in Toome.

Members of the public have been asked to come forward with any information which could help to establish what happened to the man.

His name has not been released.

He was found on Roguery Road in Toome on Sunday after police received a report at around 7.10pm of a man lying in an unresponsive state.

He was transferred to hospital by the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and remains in a critical condition.

Inspector Alison Ferguson said: “He is in his late 50s, of thin build, approximately 6 foot tall with short grey hair. He was wearing a silver chain around his neck, black cycling bottoms, a high visibility cycling jacket and a long sleeved black top underneath a navy-coloured T-shirt with a shark motif on the left side."

The bicycle found near him is a silver-coloured 'Specialized Allez'.

"If anyone believes they can help us identify this gentleman, or has information that could help with our enquiries, please contact us on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 1124 of 08/04/18,” Inspector Ferguson added.
