Police in plea after robbers stab man on Castlereagh Road

A man has been stabbed during an armed robbery after men stopped him to ask for a cigarette.

Shortly after 1am yesterday morning, the victim who is in his 40s, was walking in the Castlereagh Road area when he was approached by three males.

It is believed the men asked him for a cigarette and he was then assaulted.

It is believed the man was stabbed in the stomach during the incident.

He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment to injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

Detective Constable Weatherald said: "It is believed that a sum of money and other items were taken during the incident. Enquiries are continuing.

"Detectives in Musgrave Police Station can be contacted on the 101 non-emergency number.
