Police issue appeal after assault

Detectives in Bangor are appealing for information following an assault in the Beechwood Gardens area of the town on Sunday.

At approximately 4.45am, four masked men, some of whom are believed to have been armed with hammers, entered the house and assaulted a number of people.

One woman was taken to hospital for treatment for injuries which are not believed to be life threatening at this stage. Three men also sustained minor injuries.

North Down MLA Alex Easton condemned the attack and appealed for anyone with information to hand it over to the police.

“I condemn this attack on a woman in her home in Bangor in the early hours of Sunday morning,” he said.

“I appeal to anyone with information to bring it forward to the police. We must stand together as a community to stamp out such scandalous acts of crime.”.

Detectives have appealed to anyone who was in the area and who noticed any suspicious activity or who has any other information to contact them at Bangor police station on 0845 600 8000.
