Police keep eyes open for false lashes after spate of burglaries in south Belfast

By Joanne Sweeney

Police are hunting thieves who stole a consignment of false eyelashes during a spate of burglaries in south Belfast.

Fifty boxes of Lets Go Lashes and 30 boxes of fake tan were taken from a beauty salon.

It was one of seven businesses targeted in the Ormeau Road area of Belfast last weekend.

PSNI Detective Constable Ciara Mullan said: "We believe that approximately two or three males were involved in these burglaries and tools were used to force rear and front doors in the various premises.

"During the incidents sums of cash were taken from a number of premises, while 50 pairs of quite unique false eyelashes and 30 boxes of fake tan - a mixture of St Tropez and Cocoa Brown - were taken from a beauty salon that was the victim of one of these crimes."

Four of the break-ins took place in quick succession in the early hours of Monday.

The others are believed to have taken place some time between 6pm on Saturday and 9am on Monday.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at Musgrave Street on the non-emergency 101 number.
