Police murder bid: Suspect released

A 25-year-old man arrested as part of an investigation into the attempted murder of a police officer in Northern Ireland has been released.

He was detained in the Antrim area on Monday and taken to the Police Service of Northern Ireland's serious crime suite for questioning.

A PSNI spokesman said the suspect had since been released pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service (PPS).

Last December, a policeman and his family escaped injury after a bomb was found beneath his car parked at his home in the Upper Newtownards Road in east Belfast.

A 25-year-old woman who was arrested in connection with the same incident last week has also been released pending a report to the PPS.
