Police name motorcyclist killed in Craigantlet crash

A 40-year-old motorcyclist from Newtownards has died following a crash on Sunday afternoon.

Richard Carson's motorbike collided with a blue Peugeot car on the Ballysallagh Road at Craigantlet, Co Down.

The driver of the car has been taken to hospital to be treated for her injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.

The crash happened just before 3pm and police are appealing to anyone who witnessed it to contact them in Bangor on 0845 600 8000.

Ballysallagh Road remains closed at the junction of the Crawfordsburn Road, and the Crawsfordsburn Road is closed at the junction of Andersons Hill/Mountain Road.

Mr Carson is the second motorcyclist to die on Northern Ireland's roads over the weekend.

A 39-year-old man died after a road crash near Larne on Saturday morning.

He was riding a Suzuki bike on the Shanes Hill road when he was in collision with a Renault Scenic car in the area of Kilwaughter around three miles outside the town.
