Police name pedestrian killed in Downpatrick crash

Police have named a pedestrian who died after being struck by a car in Downpatrick on Wednesday.

Patrick Wilkinson, 72, from Ballinderry, died in the three-vehicle crash on the Killard Road at around 4.20pm.

A black Seat Ibiza car and a blue Vauxhall Corsa were in a collision with a Land Rover.

The pensioner died at the scene.

Two men aged 19 and 20 who were arrested have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

The Killard Road was closed for much of Wednesday evening at the Ballyhornan Village area and Kilclief Road.

PSNI officers investigating the collision are keen to hear from witnesses and can be contacted by calling the non-emergency number 101.
