Police: No foul play in death of Holywood civil servant

By Angela Rainey

Foul play has been ruled out by police after a man was found dead in his Co Down cottage on Sunday evening.

The body of 46-year-old civil servant Paul Gordon was found at Ballydavey Cottages, Ballymoney Road, near Holywood.

A man believed to have been Mr Gordon's partner was arrested, but has now been released unconditionally.

Mr Gordon was a pay supervisor in the accounts department that oversees Assembly members' wages at Stormont.

Police said yesterday that they were no longer treating the death as suspicious.

A spokesman for the PSNI added: "A 53-year-old arrested as part of the investigation into the death of a man in Holywood on Sunday has been released unconditionally. A post-mortem examination was carried out and the death is no longer being treated as suspicious."
