Police officer dragged along road by car after speaking to driver - teenager arrested

A police officer in Northern Ireland, suffered injuries after a car took off while he was speaking to its driver and he was dragged along the road for a distance.

Police stopped the Honda car in the Mourne Park area of Newtownstewart, Co Tyrone, on Tuesday night just before 11pm. While the officer was speaking to the driver he took off.

The officer was dragged along the road before being thrown off. He suffered cuts and bruises to his head and body.

Later police spotted the car on the Old Castle Road and forced it to stop, arresting the suspect. The 17-year-old remains in police custody.
