Police pay tribute to horror crash officers

A remembrance service took place yesterday for four police officers who died in a horror road smash in 2008.

PSNI Deputy Chief Constable Judith Gillespie and former PSNI Chief Constable Sir Hugh Orde were among those present at the sombre service in Kilkeel, Co Down.

Police constables Kenny Irvine, Declan Greene, James Magee and Kevin Gorman died after the police four-wheel-drive vehicle they were travelling in struck a bridge wall in November 2008.

A memorial stone honouring the officers was dedicated and unveiled during the service.
