Police plea after burglary and arson at flat

Police are investigating after a flat was set ablaze during a burglary in Co Down.

The incident occurred at premises in Mark Street in Newtownards.

The flat was entered and torched. A TV was stolen from the property.

Police said the incident occurred during the early hours of Saturday.

However, details were only released yesterday.

The flat was unoccupied at the time and there were no injuries. Minor damage was caused throughout.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw suspicious activity in the Mark Street area or who may have information which could assist with them with their enquiries to come forward.

They can contact detectives at Bangor PSNI Station quoting police reference number 453 of 31/03/18.
