Police plea after man and woman attacked in Lisburn

A man and a woman have been violently assaulted by a couple who were armed with a hammer and a knife.

The pair sustained multiple injuries after they were attacked outside a house in Sloan Street, Lisburn, early on Saturday morning.

The 51-year-old man was struck by a man armed with a hammer and Stanley knife, at around 12.20am.

He was hit several times in the head and face with the hammer, and kicked while he was on the ground. It is not thought the Stanley knife was used during the attack.

The woman, (25), was dragged along the ground by her hair and had her head hit off the ground a number of times by a female assailant.

Police later arrested a 22-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl in the Hillsborough Road area a short time after the assault.

They have since been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
