Police probe after man is hurt in spate of burglaries in Derry

Police are investigating three burglaries in Londonderry.

The break-ins occurred during the early hours of yesterday in the city.

Shortly after 12.20am two males entered a house at Balloughry Road and assaulted the occupant before making off with the family car, a blue Volkswagen Up.

The victim of the aggravated burglary, a man in his 40s, sustained an injury to his head.

Shortly after 1.30am a house at Drumleck Drive was entered and a sum of cash and prescription medication was stolen.

In the third incident, a house at Rockfield was entered and the keys to the family car were stolen.

The vehicle, a Ford Mondeo, was later found abandoned on Lenamore Road shortly after 2am.

Detectives urged anyone with any information to contact detectives at Strand Road Police Station using the 101 non-emergency number and quoting reference 38 01/07/18.
