Police probe huge brawl at County Antrim Junior Shield final - three injured

Police are investigating after a fight broke out during celebrations of the County Antrim Junior Shield final.

It happened on Wednesday night at the County Antrim Junior Shield Final between Suffolk FC and Woodvale FC.

Suffolk won 3-1 but the jubilations after the trophy presentation were cut short as chaos descended on the pitch at Seaview stadium.

Police received a report of an altercation in which three people received minor injuries.

Secretary of the County Antrim FA Bernard Thompson said enquiries and investigations were underway.

Mr Thompson said: "The Co Antrim FA have launched an investigation to the incidents that occurred after the Toals Junior Shield Final between Suffolk FC and Woodvale FC at Seaview Stadium last night.

"The Association will also be assisting the PSNI with their enquires and investigations."

Anyone who attended the match and witnessed the incident is asked to contact police at Tennent Street, on the non-emergency number 101 quoting reference number CC 1213 26/04/17.

Information can also be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
