Police probe link between burglaries in Co Londonderry

Detectives believe burglaries at two homes belonging to older people in Co Londonderry are linked.

The first burgarly happened in the Broomhill Park area of the town sometime between 5.30pm and 6.30pm on Saturday. A back window was forced open before the house was ransacked and jewellery stolen.

Police received a report of a second break-in at around 8pm at a house on Main Street in Castlerock. Thieves entered via the back door and again ransacked the house, stealing jewellery.

One both occasions the residents were not at home.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Detectives would like to hear from anyone who was in either area yesterday and who may have noticed any vehicles or people that seemed out of place.

"Information can be provided by calling 101, quoting reference 1434 or 1491 30/11/19."
