Police are investigating a suspected kidnapping in Co Down.

Last Tuesday evening at around 6pm the driver of a small Ford Connect van was stopped by a masked man wielding a gun on the Ballymiscaw Road, Craigantlet close to the Ballyregan Road junction.

A second male then approached the van and the man was forced out of the driver’s seat and into the rear of the van.

The two males then got into the front and drove off.

The males stopped the van on the Ballybarnes Road close to its junction with Ballysallagh Road and made off in another vehicle believed to be driven by a third accomplice leaving the man in the rear of the van.

The man was not injured but left shaken by his ordeal, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives in Bangor on 101, quoting reference number 1681 25/05/19.

Detectives are particularly keen to speak with anyone who was travelling on the Ballymiscaw Road or Ballybarnes Road on Tuesday evening and saw a small white van in the area.

Alternatively, information can also be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
