Police release loyalist murder quiz man

A man arrested in connection with a loyalist murder in Belfast has been released.

The UVF was blamed after Bobby Moffett was gunned down in broad daylight on the Shankill Road in May 2010.

The suspect (55) was detained in north Belfast on Saturday and taken to Antrim serious crime suite for questioning but later freed.

Moffett (43) was a member of the UVF-allied Red Hand Commando terror group. His murder caused political ramifications by forcing the resignation of the UVF-aligned Progressive Unionist Party leader Dawn Purvis.

She was the party's sole representative in the Assembly but said she could no longer "defend the indefensible".

The UVF has carried out acts of decommissioning but the killing raised fresh questions about that process.
