Police seek driver of Vespa involved in crash with police vehicle in Carrickfergus

An appeal has been made for the driver of a Vespa scooter which was involved in a crash with a police vehicle in Carrickfergus.

The incident happened in the Irish Gate area, with it being reported to police shortly before 11am.

Inspector Mullan said: “At this time, we are working to establish exactly what happened.

“While we have identified the driver of the police vehicle, we are also appealing to the rider of a Vespa to come forward if they believe their vehicle may have been involved in a collision.

“I am also appealing to anyone who was in the Marine Highway Roundabout area around this time and who may have witnessed anything to get in touch, or anyone who had a dash cam fitted to their vehicle to check their footage.

“Anyone who can assist with our investigation is asked to call police in Larne on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 574 of 16/06/18.”
