Police seek information about crimes in south and east Belfast

A number of incidents are currently being investigated by police in south and east Belfast.

And from today until Friday, February 26, officers from Pottinger Neighbourhood Policing team will be at the City East Building, Newtownards Road, between 10am and noon.

They plan to meet and discuss local issues with anyone who lives or works in the area. Everyone is welcome.

Burglary, Park Avenue

An elderly couple returned to their Park Avenue home last Sunday evening to find it had been broken into through a back window and ransacked.

A sum of money, including their home heating grant, was taken.

Police would like to hear from anyone who was in the area, particularly between 7pm and 8.30pm on Sunday, to come forward.

The couple, aged in their late seventies, were badly shaken by the ordeal.

Evelyn Avenue, Burglary

A substantial amount of jewellery, cash, electronic and DIY equipment has been stolen from a house in the Evelyn Avenue area of east Belfast.

Intruders forced entry some time between 1pm on Sunday, February 7, and 11am the following day.

The haul included: two blue and black 16 GB Apple Ipod Nano's; a white docking station; a black Nintendo DS in a silver case; a Nintendo Wii console; a Wii Sports Resort game; a Wii Fit Plus game; a Wii Fit board; a Wii Nario & Sonic Winter Olympics; a black 17 inch laptop; a blue Accer 15 inch Aspire laptop; an Olympus digital camera, charger and memory card; a black Sony Playstation 3 250 GB; two Sony Playstation 3 controllers; a Sony PS3 headset and three PS3 games.

Also stolen was: a Tiffany key chain; a silver Tag watch with a blue face; a man's silver chain with a boxing glove charm; a silver Tiffany bracelet with heart charm and a white gold ring with a blue and opal stone set in diamonds.

The DIY haul included: a Dewalt belt sander; a Ryobi Router; a Dewalt 9 inch grinder; a Dewalt 18 inch cordless drill and a Compressor.

Burglary, Belmont Avenue

A number of items were taken during a house burglary in the Belmont Avenue area of east Belfast some time between 12 noon on Thursday, February 4, and 10.30am the following day.

A brand new 40 inch Bush television along with a wall bracket were among the goods taken.

Sharman Road, Burglary

Police in south Belfast are appealing for information following a burglary which occurred some time between 9am and 4.30pm on Wednesday, February 10, in the Sharman Road area.

Entry to the property was forced and a number of items were taken including a Sony Viao 17 inch widescreen high definition laptop and a Toshiba laptop.

Burglary, Tates Avenue

On Wednesday, February 10, a number of items were stolen from a house in the Tates Avenue area of south Belfast.

They included a Dell 24 inch LCD monitor with tower, two external hard drives and a set of speakers.
