Police seize booze and tobacco in planned raid

Police in Glengormley have seized a large quantity of alcohol and tobacco following the planned search of business premises on Ballyclare Road on Friday, November 19.

Officers seized 236 beer, 37 bottles of vodka, 31 items of cider and 113 alco pops in addition to 29 packets of cigarettes and 50 grammes of loose tobacco. Police believe that alcohol was being commercially supplied from the premises without a licence.

A police spokesperson said they would act on any information regarding the illegal sale of alcohol and take “robust action” against those involved in this activity.

“Police reflect the community's concern around the abuse and misuse of alcohol, particularly the supply of alcohol to minors. It is an offence to supply or purchase alcohol on behalf of a person who is under the age of 18. This is the law and we actively encourage community support in its enforcement. We would urge members of the public to raise concerns around the sale of alcohol to us so that we can deal with this in an effective manner,” they added.
