Police have appealed for further help to tackle drug dealing after officers seized cannabis plants with an estimated street value of £250,000.

Detectives said they recovered several hundred plants from a house in the Rosemount Gardens area of Skegoneill in north Belfast.

No arrests were made but officers said inquiries are continuing.

Cultivation equipment was also seized during the drugs find on Tuesday.

Area commander Chief Inspector Ian Campbell welcomed the seizure and called for continued help from the public to tackle the drugs trade.

"This was a very successful search which has resulted in the seizure of a substantial amount of cannabis plants," he said.

"This search operation shows the impact police can make against illegal drugs, particularly when we are supported by the public with information.
