Pope meets Franciscan nuns at Vatican gathering
The Pope met a group of Franciscan nuns during yesterday's weekly Papal audience in St Peter's Square.
Francis was given a warm welcome from those gathered, and received a skullcap thrown on the top of his popemobile.
In his address, the Pope told those present that God never disowns his children.
He said: "This paternal voice, imperceptible to the ear, but well-audible to the heart of those who believe, accompanies us throughout life, without ever abandoning us.
"The father tells us, 'You are my beloved son. You are my beloved daughter.' But God loves us so much. He does not leave you alone. This is from the moment of baptism. We are reborn children of God, and we are forever!"
Pope Francis is to visit the Republic of Ireland in August - the first papal visit to the country for almost 40 years.
