Popular Moira sportsman Paddy Allen is laid to rest
The funeral of one of the best known characters on the Northern Ireland cricket scene took place yesterday.
Paddy Allen (35) was found dead at his home in Moira on Sunday morning.
Mr Allen's funeral took place at St John's Parish Church in the town yesterday afternoon, followed by interment in the churchyard. As well as being a popular player and supporter at Waringstown Cricket Club, Mr Allen was well-known in horse racing circles and operated Moira Cross Country and Schooling Gallops.
He was also a former member of Lurgan Rugby Club and Ulster Rugby.
Mr Allen was also a well-known supporter of Glenavon Football Club, which has revealed it will sponsor the League Cup tie against Portstewart next month in tribute to their late fan.
